Emberfall Saga
Emberfall Saga is the sort of mobile RPG I keep expecting to run out of content, and it just doesn't. You build a party of four from a roster of oddballs, and the fun is in how their skills chain together. A shield-bash that stuns, followed by a mage's follow-up that does bonus damage to stunned enemies, feels like you cracked a tiny puzzle every fight.
Combat is turn-based and reads clearly on a phone screen, with big tappable targets and a timeline that shows who moves next. The story leans into a slow-burning mystery about a fading sun, and while it won't win literary prizes, the writing has a dry humour I warmed to. Save points are generous, which matters when you're playing in short bursts.
My one gripe is the early grind for materials, which drags before the crafting system opens up properly. Push past the first few hours and it becomes one of the most complete role-playing experiences you can keep in your pocket.
What we liked
- Deep skill-chaining combat
- Party of genuinely distinct characters
- Clean, tap-friendly battle interface
